MDRT Establishes Relief Fund for Park Ridge, Ill. (January 18, 2010) – The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) has established the Haiti Disaster Relief Fund in response to the devastation caused by the magnitude-7.0 earthquake that struck Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on January 12, 2010. MDRT members and all life insurance and financial services professionals and organizations can donate to the fund at http://www.mdrtfoundation.org/. The MDRT Foundation will match up to USD 100,000 of all contributions made to this fund received through February 28, 2010. One hundred percent of funds raised will be awarded to Mercy Ships and Heifer International, both of which are currently on the ground in Haiti assisting with relief efforts. Mercy Ships is playing a vital role by providing floating hospitals to take the place of those destroyed in the earthquake. Heifer International is presenting food, animals and training to people in Haiti to address the severe shortage of food and water in the wake of the disaster. In addition, during the 2010 MDRT Annual Meeting in Vancouver, BC Canada, MDRT will host the “Million Meal Challenge,” a volunteer effort to package 1 million nutritious meals that will be sent to people in impoverished communities worldwide, including Haiti. To support the fund, please make your contribution at the MDRT Foundation Web site or send a check payable to the MDRT Haiti Disaster Relief Fund to MDRT, 325 W. Touhy Avenue, Park Ridge, IL, 60068, USA. About MDRT and the MDRT Foundation: The MDRT Foundation was created in 1959 to provide MDRT members with a means to give back to their communities.
