Destigmatizing mental illness with Top of the Table charity partner Letters to Strangers

Did you know that 1 in 8 people worldwide have a mental illness? Recognizing the significant reach of this issue, the MDRT Foundation has selected Letters to Strangers (L2S) as its charity partner for the 2023 Top of the Table Annual Meeting, October 11–14, 2023.

L2S is an award-winning, global, youth-run mental health organization that works to destigmatize mental illness and increase access to affordable, quality treatment, particularly for youth.

Through anonymous letter-writing exchanges, L2S facilitates person-to-person human connection to address the loneliness of mental illness. Their peer education and advocacy programs further their efforts in the larger community.

Founder Diana Chao will speak from Main Platform at the Top of the Table Annual Meeting. Chao founded L2S as a teen in 2013 after bipolar disorder and a blinding eye condition nearly ended her life.

Meeting attendees can support L2S with a donation as well as participate in a workshop, “Supporting ourselves and each other during life challenges.”
