2024 MDRT Annual Meeting: Charity Partner

The MDRT Foundation charity partner for the 2024 MDRT Annual Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, is Letters to Strangers (L2S).

L2S is the largest global youth-run nonprofit seeking to destigmatize mental illness and increase access to affordable, quality treatment. They do this through letter writing activities and other mental health curriculum. Over the last ten years, L2S has impacted over half a million youths in 72 countries.

Facts about mental health globally:

• 1 in 8 people worldwide have a mental illness
• Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide and is a major contributor to the overall global burden of disease
• Half of all countries worldwide have fewer than 1 psychologist per 100,000 residents
• Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds
